Korea wins three titles as six nations strike gold on final day at Chuncheon 2026
CHUNCHEON, Korea — Korea captured three of the eight gold medals contested on the fifth and final day of the Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, while five other nations completed the tournament with world titles.
China, Germany, Thailand, Türkiye and Mexico also reached the top of the podium as eight world titles brought the five-day World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships to a close.

Korea entered the final session with 17 titles and completed its dominant campaign with 20 gold medals.
Korea completes its campaign with three team titles
Jinsung Cho, Sa-Bin Lee and Gunhyung Lee secured Korea’s first gold medal of the day in the Male Team Junior event.
The Korean trio finished ahead of Whye Jing Ong, David Gil and Preston Park of the United States. Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, China, shared the bronze medals.
Korea added another junior team title through Yu-Na Kim, Dohee Kim and Yee-Un Kim, who defeated Chinese Taipei in the Female Team Junior competition. Hong Kong, China, and Vietnam completed the podium.
The host nation’s third victory came in the Female Team Under 60 category. Minhwa Kim, Miseon Kim and Eunjoo Kim claimed gold ahead of the United States, while Hong Kong, China, and Spain earned bronze.
Five nations celebrate gold on the final day
China’s Yuxiang Zhu captured the Male Under 40 title after defeating Denmark’s Benjamin Harder in the final. Wei Yan Chew of Malaysia and Hyoseok Choi of Korea collected the bronze medals.
Germany also celebrated individual success as Heekyung Reimann won the Female Under 65 division. Australia’s Carmela Hartnett secured silver, with Austria’s Sabine Muller and Spain’s Beatriz Queiro Campos taking bronze.
Thailand’s Thana Kiewlailerd and Chutikarn Lapnitayapan prevailed in the Pair Under 30 event, finishing ahead of Indonesia’s Muhammad Rizal and Kinara Abbabiel L. Komara. Iran and Türkiye shared third place.
Türkiye reached the top of the podium in the Male Team Over 60 category through Teyfik Celik, Mehmet Orkan and Mustafa Yilmaz.
The Turkish trio defeated Korea’s Yongok Son, Ha Seong Woo and Hee-Do Kim, while Mexico and Chinese Taipei secured bronze.
Mexico claims the final gold medal
Mexico captured the last world title awarded at Chuncheon 2026 in the Team Over 17 event.
Cecilia Lee, Josue Galindo, Eder Jezrael Cantero Moreno, Daniel Garcia, Luis Alfonso de la Mora Lopez and Dayra Mariana Comparan Luna combined to finish ahead of Thailand.
The United States and the Philippines completed the final podium of the championship with bronze medals.

Korea claimed four titles on the opening day before adding five more gold medals on day two.
The host nation then reached 13 gold medals on day three and increased its total to 17 during the fourth session.
The final eight events completed the 42-title program at Chuncheon 2026 and brought five days of competition to an end.
