The host nation captured four of the eight titles awarded on day three of the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. Chinese Taipei, France, Vietnam and China also reached the top of the podium.

The host nation has now secured 13 of the 25 titles awarded during the first three days of the championship.

The tournament opened with a record 1,411 athletes before Korea claimed four of the eight opening-day titles. The hosts then added five more gold medals on day two, establishing the pattern that continued on Friday at the Songam Sportstown Air Dome.

Korea adds four more world titles

Tae Young Kim delivered Korea’s first victory of the day in the Male Cadet category after defeating Mongolia’s Shine-Erdene Tserendejid in the final. Singapore’s Dayrius Ding Heng Low and Mexico’s Alan Dae Yon Kim Lee earned bronze medals.

Min Sang Kim followed with gold in the Male Under 60 division, overcoming Great Britain’s Simon Negus. June Ninobla of the Philippines and Michail Rodin of Russia completed the podium.

Korea also prevailed in the Female Team Cadet event through Joy Lee, Song Seoyun Song and Dahyeon Choi. The United States trio of Dina Dorack, Arianna Lee and Kori Tsang secured silver, while Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, China, shared the bronze medals.

Tae Lee Kim completed Korea’s four-title performance with victory in the Female Under 17 category. China’s Yimeng Lei finished second, with Hsiang Chu Hsu of Chinese Taipei and Natnaree Kumsa-Ad of Thailand taking bronze.

Four other nations reach the top of the podium

Chinese Taipei, France, Vietnam and China prevented Korea from completing a sweep of the third day.

Min Yu Hsieh captured the Male Junior title for Chinese Taipei after defeating Iran’s Behdad Naghiee. Whye Jing Ong of the United States and Caleb Angel Calde of the Philippines earned bronze.

France celebrated gold in the Female Over 65 category through Mireille Aunac, who prevailed over Austria’s Leni Niedermayr. Julie Tregeagle of the United States and Eduarda Ferraz of Portugal completed the podium.

Vietnam’s Thien Phung Nguyen and Thi Le Kim Nguyen won the Pair Under 50 title after defeating Denmark’s Charlotte Pedersen and Benjamin Harder. Iran and Malaysia shared the bronze medals.

China closed the day with victory in the Pair Over 17 event. Tao Zhang and Sitong Lin overcame Korea’s Jihyun Kim and Jin Ho Lee in the final, while Canada and Iran secured bronze.

The Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships continue through September 20, with 17 titles still to be decided and Korea holding a clear lead after three days of competition.
