This groundbreaking event marks the beginning of a new era for professional Taekwondo in Uzbekistan, blending the traditions of martial art discipline with the excitement of modern combat sports.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan — A historic milestone was achieved in Uzbekistan with the successful hosting of the Uzbekistan Cup in Traditional Taekwon-Do and the first-ever Kombat Taekwondo (KT) exhibition matches inside a professional octagon. This groundbreaking event marks the beginning of a new era for professional Taekwondo in Uzbekistan, blending the traditions of martial art discipline with the excitement of modern combat sports.

Held in Tashkent, the championship drew more than 400 participants from across Uzbekistan, featuring divisions for children, juniors, girls (amateurs), and adults (professionals). For the first time in the country’s history, athletes competed under Kombat Taekwondo rules within a professional MMA-style octagon—symbolizing Uzbekistan’s official entry into the world of professional Taekwondo.

Among the professional competitors were national and international champions in Taekwon-Do, MMA, and Kickboxing, who showcased their skills across multiple weight categories. All participants were honored with medals and certificates, while champions received trophies and cash prizes, celebrating both performance and perseverance.

The event drew significant national media attention, with coverage from seven television channels, highlighting the growing recognition of Kombat Taekwondo as the future of martial arts competition in Uzbekistan.

In his official remarks, Grand Master Gayrat Kasimov, President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation Uzbekistan, expressed his pride and vision:

“This is a historic moment for Uzbekistan. For the first time, we have organized professional Taekwondo fights in the octagon—showing that our athletes are ready to compete on the global stage. As the official representative of Kombat Taekwondo (KT) and the Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF) in Uzbekistan, we invite all martial artists to join the growing professional movement.”

This exhibition event, officially sanctioned by the Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF)—the world governing body for Professional and Traditional Taekwondo—marks Uzbekistan’s entry into the international professional arena, bridging tradition with modern sport innovation.

The Uzbekistan Cup and KT Exhibition will be remembered as a defining chapter in Uzbekistan’s martial arts history, paving the way for future Professional Kombat Taekwondo Championships in Central Asia and inspiring the next generation of fighters to rise from the heart of Tashkent to the world stage.
