The Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) has officially opened applications for the 2025 ATU Referee Education Program, to be held December 17–20, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea. This is a unique opportunity for referees from across Asia, as the course is completely free of charge and includes five nights of hotel accommodation and local transportation provided by the organization.
A high-level training opportunity
The program is open to up to 100 international referees from the Asian region who hold a WT International Referee license, although applications are open to all. The initiative aims to strengthen referees’ professionalism and practical skills, ensure fair and transparent competition management, and expand international referee exchange across Asia.
Participants will stay in shared hotel accommodations for five nights, with breakfast and daily transportation between the hotel and the venue provided by ATU. The course will take place at the Korea National Sport University, located in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
No participation fee
The ATU will cover all course and accommodation expenses, making this a highly attractive opportunity for referees wishing to enhance their qualifications. Selected participants will only need to arrange and pay for their airfare and airport–hotel transfers.
The application deadline is October 20, 2025 (11:59 p.m. KST). Completed forms must be submitted via email to [email protected]
Recognition and future opportunities
Referees who demonstrate outstanding performance or exemplary participation during the program will receive an official certificate of recognition and may be prioritized for referee selection at ATU-promoted competitions in 2026.
A key step for referee development
The 2025 ATU Referee Education Program reflects the Union’s continued commitment to raising refereeing standards, promoting transparency, and encouraging knowledge exchange among officials across the continent. It also provides an exceptional platform for professional development and cultural exchange in one of Taekwondo’s most important regions.
