Maher Magableh Elected as New President of the Oceania Taekwondo Union
The Oceania Taekwondo Union (OTU) successfully held its presidential election with representatives from 15 member nations participating through the Lumi Global electronic voting system.
The Oceania Taekwondo Union (OTU) successfully held its presidential election with representatives from 15 member nations participating through the Lumi Global electronic voting system.
Following the official vote count, Maher Magableh (Australia) was elected as the new OTU President, defeating John Kotsifas by 11 votes to 3.
New Continental Leadership
In addition to the presidency, the following positions were confirmed for the new leadership term of the Oceania Taekwondo Union:
Senior Vice President:
- Mr. Oh Jin Keun (New Zealand)
Vice Presidents:
- Mr. Cholai John Posing (Papua New Guinea)
- Mr. Jouanno Henri (New Caledonia)
Secretary General:
- Ms. Linda Pace (Australia)
Council Members:
- Mr. Ekeaua Nelson (Kiribati)
- Mr. Sam Jason (Marshall Islands)
- Ms. Setareki Siniva (Cook Islands)
Treasurer:
- Mr. Duddlley Joses (Solomon Islands)
A Closely Watched Electoral Process
The September 29 election was held under close observation, following the annulment of the previous process and the appointment of an interim board earlier this year. With this vote, the OTU has formally renewed its leadership structure.
The organization expressed its appreciation to all participating national federations and reaffirmed its commitment to good governance, regional unity, and the continued development of Taekwondo throughout Oceania under the new administration.
