Petra Uglešić won the women’s −44 kg title, and Youssef Hassan Kamal took the men’s −48 kg gold after training in Senegal at an Olympic Solidarity camp in 2025.

Uglešić won both rounds of the women’s −44 kg final against Elina Tkhamokova of Russia by point gap. The Croatian athlete added the Youth Olympic title to a world cadet gold from Sarajevo 2023 and a world junior bronze from Tashkent 2026. Italy’s Virginia Lampis and Chinese Taipei’s Yi-Jhen Lai took bronze.

From an Olympic Solidarity Camp to Gold in Dakar

Hassan Kamal beat France’s Maxence Botta 2–0 in the men’s −48 kg final. He had beaten Moldova’s Dmitrii Balagula by the same score in the semifinals. Balagula and Morocco’s Abdellatif Ladimat earned bronze.

In April 2025, Hassan Kamal trained in Senegal at a World Taekwondo camp funded by the International Olympic Committee through Olympic Solidarity. The camp helped prepare young African athletes for Dakar 2026 and supported their development toward future events such as LA 2028. World Taekwondo camp outline
