World and Paralympic champions Amy Truesdale and Matt Bush joined Joe Lane in World Taekwondo’s commentary team during the Muju Taekwondowon 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix, bringing elite-level experience directly to digital audiences.

The initiative featured British Para Taekwondo stars Amy Truesdale, Matt Bush and Joe Lane, who commentated on selected matches through the quarter-final stages broadcast live on World Taekwondo’s Instagram and TikTok channels.

Truesdale and Bush, both Paralympic and world champions, stepped behind the microphone after earning silver medals at the World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix in Muju. They were joined by European champion and World Championships silver medallist Lane.

Experience translated for the audience

Their participation offered viewers insight from athletes who understand elite competition from inside the ring, including its tactical decisions, technical adjustments and psychological demands.

World Taekwondo selected athletes with strong communication skills in English and the competitive experience required to explain the action to an international audience.

Beyond strengthening the broadcasts, the project created a professional development opportunity for athletes interested in building careers in media and communications alongside — or beyond — competition.

Inclusion beyond the field of play

Bringing Taekwondo and Para Taekwondo athletes into the commentary structure also extended inclusion into another visible area of the sport.

Rather than limiting athletes’ contributions to their competitive results, the initiative showed how their knowledge can continue adding value through analysis, storytelling and direct engagement with fans.

The Muju Taekwondowon 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix concluded on September 7, but this experiment left a broader message: elite athletes can remain influential voices in the sport long after the final match.
