Chungwon Choue to Be Re-Elected as World Taekwondo President Unopposed
Seoul, South Korea – August 2025. The official list of candidates for the World Taekwondo (WT) elections has been confirmed, and current President Dr. Chungwon Choue will be re-elected automatically as he faces no challengers. With this result, the South Korean leader, who has been in office since 2004, will complete 25 years at the helm of the organization by the end of his new term in 2029.

The official list of candidates for the World Taekwondo (WT) elections has been confirmed, and current President Dr. Chungwon Choue will be re-elected automatically as he faces no challengers. With this result, the South Korean leader, who has been in office since 2004, will complete 25 years at the helm of the organization by the end of his new term in 2029.
2025 Elections
The election will take place on October 23 in Wuxi, China, during the WT General Assembly. The process will be conducted in a hybrid format, with both in-person and remote participation, and voting carried out by secret ballot using the Lumi Global system.
Elected officials will begin their terms following the conclusion of the 2025 World Championships and will remain in office until the end of the 2029 World Championships.
