Kyung Hee University Taekwondo Poomsae Team Wins Women’s Title at 2026 Daegu World University Taekwondo Festival
Kyung Hee University’s Taekwondo Poomsae Team took the women’s title at the 2026 Daegu World University Taekwondo Festival, adding another major international achievement to its record.
Held on July 6, the event brought together athletes from 20 countries. Kyung Hee University’s Poomsae Team delivered a standout performance in the G1 division, with Park Chae-won claiming victory in the women’s individual division after defeating Seo Chae-won, who was selected this year as a national team member, in the final with a score of 9.066.

Park, who won gold at the 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Hong Kong, once again demonstrated her elite level on the international stage. Her victory highlighted both her technical precision and performance under pressure.
The team also went on to win the Recognized Poomsae Female Team event, completing a two-title sweep at the competition. With consecutive wins in both the individual and team events, Kyung Hee University further confirmed its strength in university-level poomsae competition.

Other Kyung Hee University athletes also got great results across multiple divisions. In the Recognized Poomsae Male Team event, the trio of Um Ju-hyuk, Lee Seung-heon, and Oh Kyung-hwan got the bronze medal. In the Recognized Poomsae Pair event, Kim Tae-won and Eun Jeong-hye finished third. In freestyle competition, Seo Hyeon-seon took third place in the Freestyle Poomsae Individual Male division, while Lee Joo-young placed third in the Freestyle Poomsae Individual Female division.
The results once again showcased Kyung Hee University’s depth, consistency, and international competitiveness in taekwondo poomsae.
