ATU Receives Golden Award in Cairo, Reinforcing Asia’s Institutional Strength

The award was received by Mr. Shaddad Tali A. Alamri, Vice President of the Asian Taekwondo Union, on behalf of ATU, an organization that continues to play a central role in the political, sporting and institutional landscape of global Taekwondo.

Tatweeg News is an Egyptian-Arab sports media platform specializing in individual sports and disciplines that often receive limited coverage in mainstream sports media. Through this platform, it organizes The Best Awards, a ceremony dedicated to recognizing leading figures, institutions and projects across the sporting world.

For ATU, the distinction comes at a time of institutional strengthening and modernization. Under the leadership of President Kim Sang-jin, the continental union has been advancing an agenda focused on transparency, administrative efficiency, innovation and new areas of development, including technology, Virtual Taekwondo and artificial intelligence.

Mr. Alamri’s presence in Cairo also reflects the growing role of Asian leaders from across the region in international sports diplomacy, with the Middle East becoming increasingly active within the global Taekwondo structure.

Asia holds a unique position in Taekwondo as the continent where the sport was born and as one of its most influential competitive and institutional regions. In this context, the Golden Award stands as another sign of ATU’s continued commitment to leading the sport through a period of regulatory changes, new competition formats and increasing professionalization.

The recognition presented in Cairo does not redefine the global Taekwondo landscape on its own, but it sends a clear message: Asia remains one of the key actors shaping the present and future of the sport.
