Danish Taekwondo Federation issues official retraction regarding 2025 national team dismissals

Copenhagen, Denmark — The Danish Taekwondo Federation issued an official retraction on May 2, 2026, concerning previously published information on the dismissal of the National Coach and the Sports Director for Kyorugi in November 2025, confirming that the decisions were not valid.

The matter dates back to November 29, 2025, when the dismissal of National Coach Tarik Setta and Sports Director Bjarne Johansen was publicly communicated.

According to the federation’s statement, the decisions were made by individual former board members without the mandate of the competent governing body and in violation of the federation’s bylaws and procedures.

Following multiple reviews, the DTaF concluded that there had been no professional, factual, or legal basis for the dismissals or for the claims made in connection with the case.

The process included review by the Danmarks Idrætsforbund Appeals Body, which overturned the basis for the decisions.

As a result, the federation confirmed that both officials have remained in their respective positions without interruption and that their employment status was never legally terminated.

The DTaF further stated that, following a review of financial records, no evidence was found to support allegations related to financial misconduct or to concerns regarding the working environment of the national team.

All previous claims have been formally withdrawn. The federation also issued an unconditional apology to both individuals for the consequences arising from the case.

DTaF President Mireille Enggaard Kempf stated that the matter is now considered closed.
