The Royal Open Kids Championships 2026 will be held on March 1 at the 8888 Arena (Sofia) and will celebrate its winners as Princes and Princesses, in an event promoted by the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation to build character: confidence, respect, and courage, at the heart of the Bulgaria Open G2 week.

Sofia will have a week that will speak of Taekwondo in all its languages: the language of points, the high performance and, above all, the language of values. On March 1, 2026, 8888 Arena will open its doors for the Royal Open Kids Championships 2026, an event where the next generation will not only compete: they will learn to believe in themselves.
Promoted by the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation and under the leadership of Slavcho “Slavi” Binev, president of the federation, the event was born with a clear mission: to reach the hearts of children and parents with a message that Taekwondo should never have lost sight of. This is not just a sport. It is emotional education. It is a culture of respect. It is discipline that becomes habit. It is courage that is trained.
Kyorugi and skills competitions: learning by competing
The Royal Open Kids combined Kyorugi with multiple skills competitions, a format designed so that each athlete can find their own path to growth. Because in formative years, every experience counts: the bow before the match, self-control when the heart speeds up, the ability to listen to the coach, respect for the opponent, and the courage to try again.
That is the idea that guides the entire day: Building Confidence, Respect, and Courage. Three values that, in a child, can be the beginning of something much bigger than a medal.

Sofia, same international energy as the Bulgaria Open G2
The choice of the 8888 Sofia Arena is no minor detail. In the same week that the city will experience the international pulse of the Bulgaria Open G2, the Royal Open Kids became the basis of everything: the place where the future is sown. Where you learn to compete with rules, yes, but also with identity. Where a father discovers that his son can transform himself on the mat, and a mother understands that Taekwondo also educates when no one is watching.
In this context, Binev’s leadership aimed at something broader than a date on the calendar: to consolidate Sofia as an organizational and human reference point, capable of receiving delegations, taking care of the experience, and promoting Taekwondo as a community.
“Royal Spirit, Champion’s Fight!”
That slogan sums up the spirit of the event: compete with determination without losing respect; fight to win without forgetting who you are; learn to be strong without forgetting to be noble.
The Royal Open Kids Championships 2026 promised more than just a day of Taekwondo. It promised an experience that could mark a turning point in the sporting lives of those who are just beginning to write their story: Princes and Princesses for a day, but—if the message catches on—champions of values forever.
