BANGKOK, Thailand – As the 2025 competitive season nears its close, Taekwondo’s established champions will go head-to-head with the sport’s emerging talents at the Bangkok 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge.

The event will take place at the Indoor Stadium Huamark from November 21–24, bringing together 241 athletes from 29 Member National Associations across eight Olympic weight categories.

As World Taekwondo transitions from the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle toward LA 2028, this event carries significant implications for the athletes.

Gold medalists will earn USD 2,500, silver medalists USD 1,500, and bronze medalists USD 1,000. Crucially, all medalists will secure automatic qualification for the Grand Prix Series 3 in Paris, France, in October 2026.

The Grand Prix Challenge’s open-entry format provides a rare opportunity for lower-ranked athletes to test themselves against the sport’s top competitors. The event is open to all registered athletes, with each nation permitted to enter up to four athletes per weight category on a first-come, first-served basis.

This structure gives developing athletes valuable exposure to world-class competition and often sets the stage for unexpected breakthroughs.

The Bangkok competition will also feature several of the sport’s biggest stars, including Paris Olympic gold medalist Taejoon Park of Korea; Charlotte 2025 Grand Prix Challenge champion CJ Nikolas of the United States; Wuxi 2025 World Champion Sarah Chaâri of Belgium; and Brazil’s Maria Clara Pacheco, gold medalist at the Charlotte and Muju Grand Prix Challenges and the Wuxi World Championships.
