Seven nations win gold as Bahrain makes history at Paris-Levallois 2026

Brazil, Mexico and Russia claimed two titles each at the Paris 2026 World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix. Mahmut Bozteke and Silvana Mayara Cardoso Fernandes secured their third consecutive Grand Prix victories, while Bahrain celebrated its first-ever medal at a World Para Taekwondo event.

PARIS-LEVALLOIS, France — Seven countries shared the ten titles contested at the Paris 2026 World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix on October 8 at the Palais des Sports Marcel Cerdan, in Levallois-Perret.

The competition brought together 113 athletes from 30 countries, alongside World Taekwondo representation from Costa Rica. Brazil, Mexico and Russia earned two gold medals apiece, while Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan and Türkiye each claimed one.

Bozteke and Cardoso Fernandes complete a Grand Prix hat-trick

Türkiye’s Mahmut Bozteke defeated Israel’s Adnan Milad 2–0 in the men’s K44 −63 kg final, adding Paris gold to his victories in Rome and Muju.

Brazil’s Silvana Mayara Cardoso Fernandes also secured her third consecutive Grand Prix title. She won an all-Brazilian women’s K44 −57 kg final against Maria Eduarda Machado Stumpf, taking the rounds 12–6 and 22–0.

Brazil’s second title came through Ana Carolina Silva de Moura, who defeated France’s Djelika Diallo in the women’s −65 kg final.

Yasur returns to gold as Japaridze wins a close final

Israel’s Asaf Yasur defeated Azerbaijan’s Sabir Zeynalov in two rounds at men’s −58 kg, ending the Rome and Muju winner’s run of titles.

Georgia’s Ana Japaridze overcame Türkiye’s Meryem Betül Çavdar 2–1 in a women’s −52 kg final decided in the last second of the third round.

Mexico celebrated victories for Claudia Romero at women’s −47 kg and Juan Diego García López at men’s −70 kg. Kazakhstan’s Nurlan Dombayev won men’s −80 kg, while Russia’s Elena Savinskaia and Aliaskhab Ramazanov took the women’s +65 kg and men’s +80 kg titles.

Bahrain reaches a historic podium

Ebrahim Samqa earned bronze in men’s K44 −63 kg, becoming Bahrain’s first medallist at a World Para Taekwondo event. His run ended in the semifinals against eventual champion Bozteke.
