The European Taekwondo Union (ETU) and JEI University’s Department of Global Taekwondo have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding educational opportunities for European Taekwondo athletes.

ETU President Sakis Pragalos and Moon Dae Sung, chair of the university department, signed the agreement on September 17, 2026. According to ETU, the partnership will focus on education, training, research, talent development and international exchange.

What the agreement could lead to

The two organizations plan to develop educational and training programs intended to support athletes’ performance and professional development. They will also explore joint competitions, seminars, workshops and academic events.

“Education and athlete development are essential for the long-term growth of our sport,” Pragalos said. He added that the cooperation could create opportunities to connect European Taekwondo with academic expertise and international exchange.

The memorandum is valid for an initial period of one year. It establishes a framework for cooperation, while specific projects will require further agreements and implementation plans. ETU has not yet announced a program schedule or identified participating athletes.

For European Taekwondo, the next measure of the partnership will be the programs that emerge from the agreement and the opportunities they offer athletes beyond competition.
