In the run-up to the event, MASTKD spoke with Atefa Khelwatty, a member of the Organizing Committee, who confirmed the magnitude the competition is reaching even before it begins.

“To be honest, we didn’t expect something of this magnitude. But we’re very happy to be here.”

“It’s one of the biggest events in the UK, and we hope it continues to grow in future editions.”

The scale is impressive. In just two days, London will offer athletes from around the world the chance to compete for key ranking points in a format that reduces the need for multiple international trips and increases competitive intensity at a single venue.

According to the organizers, participation already reflects this impact.

“We’ll have over a thousand athletes competing for ranking points and a great experience this weekend here in London.”

To handle that volume, the event will feature seven competition mats and a high-level panel of referees.

“We have over 40 international referees, in addition to several national referees.”

The planning also focused on the experience within the venue, prioritizing space and smooth flow.

The entire system will operate under official World Taekwondo regulations, featuring a single-elimination format and updated technical criteria. Additionally, the event will fully integrate Para Poomsae into the same competitive block, with G1, G2, and G3 ranking categories, reinforcing its position within the international circuit.

The organizational model follows a clear logic: taking global experiences and adapting them to a unique event.

“We’ve taken the best from different competitions around the world and brought it here.”

At the same time, the organization relies on a strong community base, with volunteers from different parts of the United Kingdom already working on setting up the event.

“We have many volunteers coming from different parts of the United Kingdom because they want to be part of this event.”

“Today is setup day, and everything is being prepared so that the final result will be excellent.”

With just hours to go, London is not only preparing to host a competition but also to consolidate a format that is already setting a trend: concentrated events, with multiple ranking levels and Poomsae taking center stage.

The organization’s closing message sums up the spirit of the weekend.

“I hope everyone enjoys it. We did our best to put on a great event.”

London isn’t just organizing a competition.
It’s establishing a model.
