The European Taekwondo Union (ETU) announced, through a post on its official Facebook page, that the President of the Turkish Taekwondo Federation, Bahri Tanrıkulu, together with Secretary General Cumhur Dönmez, visited ETU President Sakis Pragalos in Athens for high-level strategic talks.
According to the institutional communication, the meeting focused on deepening cooperation and advancing joint projects aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration within European Taekwondo, without yet detailing specific initiatives or an operational timeline.

ETU noted that, in addition to Pragalos, those present included ETU Secretary General Antonio Barbarino, ETU Sports Director Jannis Mouroutsos, and Hellenic Taekwondo Federation Secretary General Michael Mouroutsos, who welcomed the Turkish delegation.
From a political standpoint, the meeting was seen as a signal of alignment and coordination between two influential actors in the region: Tanrıkulu assumed the presidency of the Turkish federation in 2024 and, at the continental level, ETU included him among the appointed members of its Executive Committee following the 2025 General Assembly. That dual role—national leadership and a seat at the European table—reinforced the institutional weight of the meeting.
ETU chose to publicly highlight the meeting and present Türkiye as a strategic partner within its forward-looking narrative.
