AFTU published AOS qualified athletes for the 2026 African Championships
The African Taekwondo Union (AFTU) published the list of athletes qualified for the 2026 African Kyorugi Championships in Rabat (Morocco), based on the African Open Series (AOS) 1–2–3–4–5–6 system, and established the administrative framework that will rule these spots: they are nominative, non-transferable, and do not allow for division changes.
Nominative quotas and federation confirmation
The AFTU reported that the places obtained by the African Open Series were personal (nominative) and could not be transferred to another athlete “under any circumstances.” It also clarified that the division could not be changed by the qualified athlete.
The entity indicated that the confirmation of places must be made before January 31, 2026, by the federations, to the presidency of the Technical Commission, at the email: [email protected].
In the event of non-confirmation, the vacant places will be reassigned to the next eligible athlete(s) in the same category and from another country, in accordance with the qualification criteria.
GAL requirement and official registration
AFTU reminded that National Member Associations must ensure that qualified athletes have a valid Global Athlete License (GAL) and ensure their official registration for the continental championship.
Right to register a full team
In addition to the nominative quotas obtained by AOS, AFTU noted that federations have the conventional right to register a full team of up to eight (8) men and eight (8) women for the 2026 African Kyorugi Championships.
