World Taekwondo will hold its first extraordinary meeting of the new Executive Council in February, combining strategic sessions, institutional activities, and protocol events in the United Arab Emirates.
World Taekwondo announced that it will hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council in Fujairah, UAE, in occasion of the 13th Fujairah International Taekwondo Open Championships, scheduled for early February 2026. It will be the first formal meeting since the election of the new Council in Wuxi, held just over a month ago.
According to the established agenda, the meeting will include an orientation session, a strategic workshop to define WT’s key priorities for the coming years, and the official opening of the Fujairah Open. In addition, the delegation will attend the Sharjah Arab Women’s Tournament and the WT Gala Awards 2025.
Continental Unions under the global spotlight
One of the most relevant points on the agenda will be the workshop specially designed for each Continental Union to present its projects and strategic plans to the WT Council and Audit Department.
This exercise will mark a decisive moment: the world of Taekwondo will be able to observe the organizational, creative, and political capacity of each CU on the international stage. For several continental bodies, it will be the first opportunity to showcase their direction, planning, and institutional vision to the new global administration.
Official program
– January 31: Orientation session and workshop
– February 1: Extraordinary Council Meeting and Fujairah Open opening ceremony
– February 2: 2025 WT Gala Awards
– February 1 to 5: 13th Fujairah Open
– February 7 & 8: 6th Arab Cup
The event will be organized by the United Arab Emirates Taekwondo Federation and is seen as a key starting point for the new administration of the global governing body, which seeks to address a cycle based on institutional planning, review of priorities, and strategic consensus among Council members, auditors, and presidents of the Continental Unions.
