WT Elections Wuxi 2025: A Practical Guide for Voters

As World Taekwondo prepares for one of its most consequential elections in recent years, delegates from national associations are set to cast their votes on October 23, 2025, in Wuxi, China.
This guide summarizes, in clear and practical terms, how the voting process will unfold — based on the official WT Election 2025 Procedure and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) documents released by World Taekwondo.

1. Who Can Vote

Only Level I Member National Associations (MNAs) are eligible to vote.
Each Level I MNA designates one accredited delegate to represent its vote during the General Assembly.
Level II or provisional MNAs may attend as observers but have no voting rights.

Delegate registration and credential verification will take place on-site in Wuxi on the morning of October 23, before the opening of the General Assembly.

2. Key Documents Every Voter Must Review

Before participating, delegates should familiarize themselves with the following official documents:

  • WT Election 2025 Procedure: outlines all voting regulations, schedules, contingency plans, and the voting format.

  • WT Election 2025 FAQs: clarifies eligibility requirements, security measures, and hybrid voting protocols.

  • Official Candidate Profiles: lists names, positions, and continental representation of all eligible nominees.

All files can be accessed directly from the WT election portal:

3. Before the General Assembly

Delegates must:

  • Confirm their official identification and accreditation with WT.

  • Ensure secure internet access and reliable equipment if voting remotely.

  • Familiarize themselves with Lumi Global, the electronic platform that will be used for all voting procedures.

  • Understand the contingency protocol: in case of any technical failure, WT will enable backup methods — including secure email or paper ballots — authorized by the Ad-Hoc Election Committee.

4. On Election Day (October 23, 2025)

The General Assembly will begin with a plenary session, including brief presentations and remarks from the candidates. Immediately afterward, voting will open through Lumi Global, the official hybrid voting system.

Each delegate will log in with personalized credentials and cast their vote electronically.
The system ensures both security and secrecy, allowing only one valid vote per delegate for each position.

Upon completion, the Ad-Hoc Election Committee will verify the digital count and announce the official results later that same day.

5. Special Regulations

  • The female candidate receiving the highest number of votes among Council members will be automatically elevated to Vice President, in line with WT’s gender balance policy.

  • The elected Vice Presidents must represent different continents.

  • The Council must maintain both continental and gender balance as outlined in the WT Statutes.

  • Age limits:
    • New candidates must be under 70 years old on the day of the election.
    • Current officials seeking re-election who have served since 2021 may be up to 80 years old.

6. Why This Election Matters

The 2025 WT Elections will determine the organization’s leadership for the 2025–2029 Olympic cycle, shaping future decisions on governance, transparency, continental autonomy, and gender equity.
Beyond a formality, the vote in Wuxi represents a turning point for how World Taekwondo defines its institutional identity and distributes power in the years to come.

Delegates will not only choose new leaders — they will decide the direction of global Taekwondo.
