In an exclusive interview for MASTKD, he outlines his motivations, impressions from international events, and his roadmap for the future.

What motivated you to get involved with Kombat Taekwondo?
Willy Porfal explains, “I had long heard about Kombat Taekwondo as a discipline that brings us back to the authentic practice of Taekwondo—realistic and effective for self-defense. I was convinced to get involved after witnessing the event in Guadeloupe last November, which was highly appreciated by several Taekwondo schools in France. From the very first moments, I knew I had to be part of this organization and consider developing it here in France. I rediscovered the true spirit and values of Taekwondo.”
What are your impressions of the events held in Colombia, Brazil, and Buenos Aires?
He adds, “I was fascinated by the energy and charisma of the matches. The commitment and professionalism of the organizers have not only enhanced the image of Taekwondo but also demonstrated that these events are truly world-class.”
How do you approach the responsibility of leading the organization in your country?
Porfal emphasizes his enthusiasm and humility, stating, “I take this responsibility with great energy and a dedicated team. As a former competitor, I am continually motivated by challenges—this one especially. I also know that the support from Kombat Taekwondo Guadeloupe will be invaluable in developing Kombat Taekwondo in France.”
How far do you think Kombat Taekwondo can go?
For him, the potential is limitless. “The immense potential of Kombat Taekwondo lies in its appeal to various fighter profiles, its multiple leagues, and the well-thought-out pathway leading to the professional league. It’s a major asset that lays a solid foundation for the future of Taekwondo.”
What are your thoughts on Rick Shin as the founder of this organization?
He remarks, “I have always heard that Mr. Rick Shin is a visionary, and I wholeheartedly support his vision. The development of this discipline is fundamental for any true Taekwondo practitioner.”
What initial projects do you have planned with the franchise?
Willy Porfal outlines, “We will proceed step by step. We plan to launch the brand nationally, organize seminars and training camps to clearly explain and promote what Kombat Taekwondo is, and eventually set up professional fights that match the prestige of those held in South America, Colombia, Argentina, and the Caribbean in Guadeloupe.”
Is there anything else you would like to add?
In conclusion, he states, “For me, Kombat Taekwondo represents the perfect fusion of spectacle and effectiveness. It revalues traditional Taekwondo while offering a modern, realistic approach to combat. I am confident that, together, we can take this sport to unprecedented heights.”
