Kyung Hee University Dominates Poomsae Division at Daegu 2024 World University Taekwondo Festival
Daegu, South Korea – Kyung Hee University’s Poomsae team achieved an impressive gold medal sweep at the 2024 World University Taekwondo Festival, held at Keimyung University from July 5th to 9th.

Daegu, South Korea – Kyung Hee University’s Poomsae team achieved an impressive gold medal sweep at the 2024 World University Taekwondo Festival, held at Keimyung University from July 5th to 9th.
The team excelled in four recognized Poomsae categories: men’s individual, women’s individual, men’s team, and women’s team, along with the men’s individual freestyle Poomsae.
The competition, approved by World Taekwondo (WT) and sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), is an international event with G1 ranking points. This festival continues the legacy of the World University Taekwondo Championships, now integrated into the Summer World University Games. More than 1,000 university athletes from 56 countries, including the United States, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, and Norway, participated in both sparring and Poomsae events, showcasing their remarkable skills.

Kyung Hee University’s Poomsae team earned a total of five gold and two silver medals across seven categories in both recognized and freestyle Poomsae events, underscoring the university’s prestigious standing in Poomsae from the sport’s birthplace on this newly established global stage for university Taekwondo athletes.
Head Coach Min-woo Jeon expressed his gratitude, stating, «It’s not easy for our athletes to gain experience on the international stage, and I’m very thankful for the creation of this platform for university students worldwide. I hope to see more exchanges with athletes from more countries in future competitions,» conveying his appreciation to the organizers.
