The Integrity Unit will be based out of World Taekwondo’s Lausanne office and will centralise functions related to anti-doping, anti-corruption, anti-manipulation of competition, safeguarding and control mechanisms for enhanced transparency. WT Liaison Lausanne Office will also centralise the value-based projects including humanitarian activities through the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF), inclusiveness through the WT Para-Taekwondo Division, and safety through the WT Medical Division.
The Unit, together with WT Integrity Committee, will conduct research into integrity-related best-practice among the Olympic Family and the broader international sports community in order to enhance the federation’s governance and maintain a healthy, fair and transparent ecosystem. The Unit will also manage relations with sporting entities and key governing and regulatory bodies in Switzerland and Europe; and identify, recommend and develop strategies with which World Taekwondo can contribute to the IOC and WT Sustainability Strategies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda.
World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue said: “By creating the WT Integrity Unit, World Taekwondo will be better positioned to develop the policies needed to ensure that we are at the cutting edge of good governance. With the Unit based in Lausanne, in the heart of the Olympic Movement, we will be able to learn from international best practice and also share World Taekwondo’s activities and contribution with the sports community.”
